Conklin Nighthawk SE Metals: Quick Look

Late in 2016, we worked with Conklin to design an exclusive pen called the Nighthawk, which is a stealthy matte carbon fiber pen with a German-made Goulet nib.

We had the opportunity to update the material used for the Nighthawk for a special edition run, and that's what I want to share with you today. Literally the same nib, trim parts, each individually numbered with a separate numbering system for each material, just different body materials.

The Nighthawk Metals are available in three different materials: Copper, Brass, and Titanium. Each version features a sandblasted finish which gives it a matte look.

I'm frequently asked about what are the best 'work-appropriate' inks, and we all know blues & blacks work great, but today I wanted to touch on a few interesting color options that aren't too crazy but could still spice up your work writing.

One thing to note is that you don't always have control of the paper you use in a work setting, so these 5 inks all excel on paper of varying quality. The inks are rich & deep in color, and are well-regarded by myself, but also highly rated on So without further ado, here are my 'Top 5 Work Appropriate Inks':

- Noodler's Zhivago (1:03)
- Noodler's Walnut (1:30)
- Diamine Oxblood (1:47)
- De Atramentis Aubergine (2:06)
- Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku (2:32)
